The Danube Wood(s) Route aims to create a Danube thematic route with wood at its heart. At the project’s kick-off meeting, the 16 partner organisations were asked what attractions should be included on the route and what should be the theme that should be used to launch the development.
The Slovenian lead partner helped to identify a number of good practice organisations, whose visionaries presented the Woman Writers Route, the Roman Emperors Route, the Walk of Peace and a VR “tour”, among others.
On the first day of the meeting, we also went on a field trip: on a small organic farm at the edge of Lake Bled and at the entrance to the beautiful Radovna Valley, the owners grow herbs, vegetables, herbs, berries and nuts. The owners have made the place completely self-sustainable: they use solar energy, dry the herbs in a traditional Slovenian haystack and enrich the soil by composting. After the biofarm, we visited an old water mill, which could also be an interesting stop on the upcoming hiking trail.
Over the next few weeks, all the project partners will be gathering attractions, natural and cultural assets that could potentially form the building blocks of the thematic trail that will be developed.
