Since its foundation in 2008, the South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency (STRIA) participated in the Southeast Europe Program in between 2012 and 2014 at the very latest. This programme was one of the predecessors of the current Danube Region Programme (DRP).

STRIA, in accordance with the smart specialization objectives of South Transdanubia for the 2021-2027 period, submitted 6 applications for the first call for proposals of the DRP in the same, 2021-2027 programming period. 5 of these received support for their implementation based on the decision of the Monitoring Committee of the programme on 18-19 October 2023.
