In the introduction to our article called “The role of TWG 4 in the eBussed project” we described the main tasks of each working group. These groups are made up of experts from each of the partners’ internal staff and/or external experts. The Thematic Working Group 1 (TWG1) focuses on the drivers and barriers to the introduction of e-buses. Its main task is to review the current governance structure, the technological and service management conditions, other regional background factors influencing the development of e-bus and possible drivers and barriers/bottlenecks at policy level.

The Thematic Working Groups are responsible for the thematic deliverables and have a strong influence on the development of the Action Plan. Within the TWG1, the identification of key drivers and barriers will help partners to identify and document relevant experiences in each region. Experience transferred from one partner to another is key to the development of regional action plans to help build or consolidate the e-bus system in each region.

The drivers and barriers of TWG1 have been grouped into six different categories. These are:

  • Political
  • Social
  • Economic
  • Technological
  • Service Management
  • Environment
