On 21 April 2021, the South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency participated in the first online micro-conference organised by „Innoskart Digital Cluster” (located in Székesfehérvár) and called „INNOVATION NEWS ’21-27”, which focused on the main topics of climate-neutral economy, circular economy, digital economy and reactive industry. One of the main topics of the presentation was related to the circular economy – circular economy also being the topic of our new Erasmus+ project at the South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency called „CIRCULAR SME SCAN”.

The presentation was given by Orsolya Szaplonczay, managing director of Innoskart cluster. In her speech, she highlighted the ambitious programme they have developed for what they call the ambitious plan.

Orsolya and her team have set four strategic directions for R&I investments. Their goals include promoting strategic autonomy through leadership in the development of key digital, enabling and emerging technologies, sectors and value chains. This also involves restoring Europe’s ecosystems and biodiversity, managing natural resources sustainably, and making Europe the first digital, circular, climate-neutral and sustainable economy. It is also about creating a more resilient, inclusive and democratic European society.

A insignificant part of the presentation was the so-called critical areas for investment. We can talk here about health, clean air transport and even meteorology. She highlighted that the EU objectives set are also essential for all of us, such as fighting cancer, protecting the oceans and greening cities.

The INNOSKART cluster aims to achieve a dual green and digital transition between manufacturing and construction. One of the means to achieve this is the creation of new green, flexible and digital methods for manufacturing and construction. This leads to sustainable, flexible and resilient factories and value chains enabled by digitalisation, artificial intelligence, data sharing, advanced robotics and modularity. Another way to achieve this is to make the work of people in manufacturing and construction more attractive and safer.

Based on the experience gained during the micro-conference and the current state of play, the green and digital transition of businesses could lead to breakthrough changes in R&D investments in the future.
