The Innovations in Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans for low-carbon urban transport project (InnovaSUMP) organised their closing event on 7 April 2021, on which the STRIA South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency Nonprofit Ltd. also participated. The online seminar focused on the main results, actions and action plans of InnovaSUMP.
The project related to the eBussed project because it aims to promote and invest in sustainable mobility solutions through policies and measures. The project engaged with the enhancements to Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) methodology such as travel behaviour research and potential user response analyses or promotion of low-carbon mobility solutions.
On the other side the eBussed project supports the transition towards low carbon mobility. Furthermore, SUMPs have key roles in the eBussed project and the next task of the eBussed project is planning the action plan, in which regard STRIA could receive ideas and inspiration on this InnovaSUMP dissemination conference.
The webinar covered three main sessions, which are the following:
- Opening, keynote address and the InnovaSUMP project main results,
- InnovaSUMP project results – actions of the international project partners,
- Action Plan Implementation follow -up – Policy debate.
During the presentations many InnovaSUMP ideas and actions were highlighted. The most interesting solutions for the eBussed point of view, which are:

The first action of Devon City Council (UK) is a 300-space parking change facility onto public transport services, including electric bike hire docking stations. Sits adjacent to their strategic cycle network – offering the option for parking and cycling. Another two Devon actions are about the strategic cycle route ensuring the “infrastructure” for the cyclists and giving the chance for change for locals.
The Municipality of Ravenna (IT) introduced their two actions, which focuses mainly on tourism:
- the extension of the pedestrian areas in the city centre of Ravenna,
- special public transport bus line during the summer for tourists.
That means for the pedestrian traffic that all the UNESCO monuments in the historical centres are now connected in the same pedestrian area and can be accessible by foot. Tourists are provided with a sustainable travel from the railway station to the sea and ferry boat, stops in the main parking areas along the path. In the same time, the protection and promotion of the coast is now safer and less congested thanks to the public transport.

The Municipality of Iasi (RO) action plan involves four actions:
- alternative mobility system using bicycle stations,
- transport management and e-ticketing system in Iasi metropolitan area,
- travel behaviour and traffic survey data collection in Iasi,
- managing mobility in times of increased tourists’ flow.
The Romanian action plan is succeeded since the municipality influenced the policy and involved many stakeholders in the action plan implementation.
The conference included the most important experiences and good practices for the public. The participants could hear the detailed actions and pilot actions which also gave the opportunity for further brainstorming.
The eBussed project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and Hungary.
